  • It's the sixth time in the past 20 years and the first time in Twins history that there was an entire game in which one of the first basemen had zero putouts and zero assists.

"It's pretty unbelievable to be a part of something like that," Mauer said.

Jake Odorizzi hurled five innings of two-run ball and struck out nine Brewers. He also induced five flyouts. In relief of Odorizzi, Ryan Pressly (three strikeouts in one inning) and Moya (four strikeouts and two flyouts over two innings) also never gave Mauer a chance for a play.

"I was made known of that fact that there wasn't a ground ball, which is a baseball oddity," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "Can't really explain that, other than the Odorizzi we know is a fly ball guy."

Brewers manager Craig Counsell kept his credit for the oddity to Odorizzi's ability to challenge Brewers hitters for the second time this season. He threw 5 1/3 innings and allowed one run when the teams met in May.

"Jake Odorizzi. Strikeouts and a bunch of fly balls," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "There are pitchers in the game right now who have changed where the batted ball is going by where they're pitching in the strike zone. He's challenging hitters up out of the strike zone. We've seen most pitchers [in the past] challenge batters down and below the strike zone. He's a guy who does the opposite and today the results were kind of extreme."

The Brewers are one of the least likely clubs to accomplish the feat. Entering Tuesday's game, the Brewers had the third-lowest fly ball percentage (32.0) in the Majors, the third-highest ground ball percentage (46.9), and the sixth-highest strikeout rate (24.0). Milwaukee usually strikes out or records outs on the ground -- but that wasn't the case against the Twins.

Ironically, Jesus Aguilar didn't have too many opportunities for putouts either at first base for the Brewers. Aguilar's first play was an unassisted putout of Bobby Wilson to end the fourth inning. The Twins only grounded out four more times in the loss.

Arenado belts NL-leading 22nd home run

    By Anne Rogers MLB.com
    12:34 AM EDT

DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado enjoys playing the Giants. Why? Because he's really good at hitting against them.

Tuesday night was no different, as Arenado hit his National League-leading 22nd home run of the season -- a three-run shot in the fifth inning against the Giants' Chris Stratton -- in the Rockies' 8-1 win at Coors Field.

    View Full Game Coverage

Arenado has 90 career RBIs against the Giants, the second most among active players. The Dodgers' Matt Kemp leads that group with 93. Arenado's 24 career home runs against the Giants are also second most among active players, with Kemp's 26 ranking first.

    Challenges for Prayer

There are signs of hope amid the decline. Pray for:

    a) Growth in the number and strength of many independent churches, and continued vitality among charismatic Pentecostal Christians. Pray that spiritual depth, lasting discipleship and effective outreach might be strengthened. There are new international churches and small congregations being planted which demonstrate the openness of some hearts to receive the good news.

    b) Immigrant churches bring diversity, vitality and a new sense of hope to the Netherlands. Pray for the effective integration of these 700,000 immigrant Christians into Dutch church life. Pray also that they might have dynamic partnerships with indigenous congregations and a burden for cross-cultural church outreach to their host nationality and to other immigrant groups.

    c) The Gereformeerde Bond and Evangelisch Werkverband are growing evangelical expressions in the PKN (Protestant National Church) with over 500 pastors involved. These movements are increasingly respected and instrumental in sending missionaries, fostering unity and planting new churches using new models.

    d) Unity within evangelicalism sees progress, but remains a challenge. The Evangelische Omroep and the Evangelical Alliance are important in this regard. Evangelicals come from a very wide spectrum and are often fragmented and isolated. SKIN is an interdenominational network bringing together the growing number and diversity of migrant churches. Pray for spiritual unity that draws denominations, institutions, agencies and ethnic groups into a single vision for reaching the nation and the world, and for their willingness to financially support this with generosity.

The Operation World book, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM provide far more information and fuel for prayer for the people of Netherlands.

Higher salaries certainly can put you in the crosshairs. When I took over a new team, I noted that one of the guys was WAY below market and my life would be miserable if he left. I argued and won a big increase for him…and then his name was always at the top of the annual RIF list (thankfully I made his case each time). Corporations aren’t evil (mostly), but they are short-sided and heartless.

Short-sighted and heartless? You got that right!

In my case I never earned a “high salary”, but was just asking for roughly the media salary in my area. The crazy thing was, even if I got a raise it would have been significantly less than what the employees I was managing were paid.

Wow I made it to the list? Holy moly!

I’m surprised that you got fired because you ask for a raise. That’s crazy! Or maybe you were making too much money already (hahaha kidding!).

I hope your kidding! I’ve never made more than the median salary for my chosen profession.

Ha, craptastic. The Oxford dictionary needs to get on it and make that word real.

I learned about finances and money after subscribing to Money magazine in the mid 1990’s. Even though there was good advice in every issue, there was also bad advice too. The predominant bad advice was that actively manage funds are the way to go. They never said it that explicitly of course, but issue after issue had interviews with these super-wealthy fund managers (who’s wealth came from fees of course) who maybe got lucky and beat the market once or twice. Then they would of course lose to the market 6 years in a row after their lucky streak, but Money conveniently wouldn’t feature them after that

I wonder if magazines see some kind of promotional fee for writing articles like that. I suspect so.

Living in one of the most expensive cities in the world (east coast), buying a place has always been tricky. One can easily go over budget with housing purchase. Even though our local market has always been hot (ish), and buying a house probably will appreciate (bit) more (compare to apartments), we decided we don’t want the property tax, maintenance fees that comes with a large house.

I was secretly happy to find out one of my coworkers (whom I don’t get along with) bought a SFH a little bit just under 1M. I don’t know where she get the idea, probably think it’s gonna be a good investment (not from me for sure). Knowing she isn’t from a rich family, no inheritance, didn’t married rich, and this is probably the largest loan they can get based on their income, chances are they will be house poor for a long time…hehe…
